Hello, FRESH
Welcome! And thank you for your interest in the new Food Research, Enterprise, and Sustainability Hub (FRESH) of the North. FRESH is a collaborative effort between Alaska Pacific University (APU) and the University of Alaska (UA) to foster, expand, and celebrate the diversity of efforts working to strengthen the food systems of Alaska and the Circumpolar North.
FRESH is the result of a two-year, community-engaged visioning process, a series of pilot projects, and a recognition of the fact that there is no centralized resource to inform cold climate food systems development and policy priorities; train our future food system leaders of the Circumpolar North; and engage the full diversity of high latitude communities working for positive change.
Thus, FRESH is envisioned as a novel support system for transdisciplinary, Circumpolar food systems research, enterprise, education, community engagement, and policy development. By creating virtual and physical infrastructure for research translation and multi-directional communication and collaboration, we aim to further develop our food systems workforce, become more competitive for funding, and find synergies across the food system.
If you are working in the realm of Circumpolar food systems and would like to connect regarding issues of research, education, and community-driven priority-setting, we look forward to hearing from you. Email FRESH at freshnorthproject@gmail.com.
